Contract: 37 Hours Per Week, All Year Round
We are seeking to recruit an inspirational colleague to the role of Sports Coach (Karate). This role is of great importance to our work as an organisation. The purpose of this post is to provide exceptional coaching delivery across the Karate programme and to support with the development of an extra-curricular programme of national significance that compliments the ambitions of the Trust ‘Big 3’ initiative.
The ideal applicant will have:
- 5 GCSE's C / 4 and above including English and Maths.
- Minimum First Dan in Karate.
- Experience of successful coaching at club level.
- The ability to form meaningful relationships with young people in the full age range of GORSE academies.

GORSE is an outstanding Multi-Academy Trust in Leeds, with over 11,000 students across its six primary academies, six secondary academies, one alternative provision academy and three post-16 colleges. The Gorse Karate Club is open to every student studying at these levels.
The Trust is targeting success across the wider Karate and Martial arts communities and is targeting for success at the English Karate Championships. Karate is now established in all primary academies, secondary academies, and colleges. The Gorse Karate programme is comprised of mainly lunch clubs, after-school clubs as well as evening clubs in the trust.
Karate is a priority sport at GORSE, and this singular focus, together with our large talent pool, makes us one of the most exciting new programmes. No other school in the UK has been able to offer the opportunities available to the students in their academies for this sport. We are very open to applicants with a different background in Martial arts who are keen to learn a new style to help lead and encourage the students in this journey.
