Brampton College continues to be one of the best performing sixth form colleges in London and has remained at the top of the Department for Education league tables for over twenty years.

The Principal, John Wilson, appointed in 2023, is only the second person to hold this post in the history of the college, which was founded over thirty years ago by Bernard Canetti. The college is family-owned, not part of a group or trust, and staff enjoy a range of attractive benefits. Small class sizes and a high level of student engagement offer a teaching experience you are unlikely to find elsewhere, and the low level of staff turnover makes the college a very stable environment for all who work here. 

We have exceptional amenities, including four recently refurbished laboratories, a stunning art and photography studio and a supervised library for quiet study. Our team of dedicated teachers, enhanced by a group of specialist support staff, allow us to focus on students as individuals to offer a unique and extremely positive educational experience.

There are approximately 230 students on roll each year across three year groups: AS, A2 and one-year A level students, as well as a small GCSE cohort.

• excellent teaching ability and a strong record of exam results at A-level;

• deliver inspiring lessons to both A-level (and GCSE) students across the ability range; to stretch the most able and support the least;
• the ability to teach Chemistry and/or Physics GCSE would be an advantage;

The Biology department

The Biology department at Brampton has developed an excellent record of achievement at A level, with many students achieving A* and A grades.

Our biologists invariably go on to study at top universities (generally all Russell group), achieving places on such competitive courses as Medicine, Dentistry , Veterinary Science and Biomedical Sciences.

We are a friendly team, and tutorial help for individual students is a key part of the department’s success.  We’re very keen to give students a strong grounding in the subject, and in year 12 we actively try to support the development of skills.

The department offers A level Biology (OCR) and GCSE Biology (Pearson). We run a traditional two-year A level course as well as a one-year re-sit course. Biology is a very popular subject, and we currently have 3 A level groups in the lower sixth and 3 in the upper sixth. GCSE Biology is taught as a one-year course, with two small groups. There are no more than nine students in any class, and the teaching is shared between four dedicated members of staff.

The department has also developed a range of support materials, including course notes and question packs, tailored to the specific demands of the courses taught. There are detailed schemes of work and lesson plans available for each topic.

Start Date: Wednesday 14th August 2024, although a September start would be considered.
