Job overview

Teacher of Computer Science and iMedia

Full or Part time MPS/UPS

Are you an enthusiastic and passionate linguist looking for your next opportunity? This could be the role for you as we look to appoint, an enthusiastic and talented teacher of languages.

We are looking to add to our energetic and committed team of teachers as our department grows in popularity at Key Stage 4 and 5. The department is a warm and welcoming environment based in the same building as Design Technology, our team is broad in their skills sets, likes and dislikes. Can you bring a new skill or skill set to the team? Our learners thrive on positivity and fast paced learning that equips them for the real world of IT and Computer Science. With a wide curriculum that exceeds the national curriculum this is a great opportunity to teach in an environment that nurtures your ideas and add to the curriculum offering within the department. The ability to teach a second subject would be advantageous, for example, Business Studies.

We have a strong Key Stage 4 and 5 cohort with many students opting for one of our subjects. This means that all teachers can have the opportunity to teach all year groups 7-13 across IT, Computer Science and iMedia. Our dedicated team is looking for a colleague who can add to our skills and strengths and so we would welcome applications from candidates who share our passion for the subject and with a love of education.

Sackville School is a popular and oversubscribed large, mixed, 11-18 comprehensive with 1700 students on roll.

We are looking for someone with the skills, enthusiasm, and ambition to join our team and to achieve our ambitious aims for all of our students. You would have the opportunity to teach across all three key stages up to and including the Sixth Form.

Sackville is an exceptionally friendly and supportive community built on strong relationships which allow every student to thrive. We invest in our staff, enabling them to pass on their knowledge and love of their subject such that our students are given the very best experience and opportunities to succeed. We have acquired a deserved reputation for fighting for every child, to support every student in achieving their full potential and developing a lifelong love of learning. Our GCSE results are consistently strong with well above average progress 8 scores.

We welcome applications from experienced colleagues looking for a new challenge in a large and popular school, as well as ECTs looking for a school that will provide excellent support so that you can really flourish at the start of your career. The school has an outstanding induction programme for new staff and bespoke CPD opportunities for career progression.

Values and vision

Sackville School offers all students the skills and knowledge to achieve their full potential and succeed in a modern and ever changing society. The  school encourages students to demonstrate kindness and good behaviour at all times and has a strong partnership with parents. It wants everyone to work together to give children the best possible chance of success, with the motto: “Together we achieve”. The school was awarded Unicef’s Rights Respecting Award and  students get involved in extra-curricular activities - ranging from sports clubs to community projects, at a local, national and international level.

Ofsted

“The behaviour of pupils is good. In the great majority of lessons, students’ behaviour is exemplary and they work very sensibly in pairs or groups and study hard. The good curriculum offers all students the chance to succeed with adapted subject options for low attainers and some students with special educational needs. Visits to a Forest School are very successful for those who find mainstream lessons difficult. Others benefit from extra time spent on English and mathematics or, in Year 10, a work-related programme. The latter reflects the school’s strong promotion of equality of opportunity and its firm anti-discrimination stance”.
