Our school is at an exciting stage of development, having just opened phase one of our new buildings housing a contemporary new Sixth Form facility, Student Café and number of well-equipped classrooms, with Phase 2 opening in September 2018 to include a bespoke Drama studio and theatre. The community provides a purposeful learning environment for both students and staff, stressing the importance of creativity, independence, celebration and empathy. Staff and students enjoy positive working relationships making it a happy and inspiring place to work.
We are seeking to appoint a motivated and talented teacher of English to complete our highly successful team. With significant curriculum change this year in English, we have embraced and carefully planned for the effective delivery of our courses; we would welcome your contribution to this exciting time in our subject area. The English team is incredibly enthusiastic, driven and collaborative. Our students are hardworking and have a really positive attitude to learning, reflected in the number of students taking English options at A level.
Our academic success speaks for itself; Tolworth students achieve high academic standards and make very good progress with well above average results. In 2017 we achieved 86% 9-4 for English Literature, with a third ofstudents attaining grades 7-9. We follow a rigorous and challenging curriculum and aim to extend and inspire students with literature and opportunities for creativity. We offer a variety of A levels including English Literature, English Literature and Language, and Media. The successful candidate will be an outstanding teacher who is experienced in teaching at Key Stages 3 - 5. If you feel you would like to contribute to the future development of our school and English department then we would very much welcome your application.
Applications are equally welcome from NQTs, who will benefit from a bespoke programme of professional development and mentoring, supporting you to continue refining and honing your pedagogical skills. The English department would seek to nurture and develop you, providing opportunities from KS3 up to KS5. A successful NQT would be invited to join us from July 1st and would inturn be paid for August.
