YOUR PROFILE

From ancient civilisations to the complexities of modern geopolitical dynamics, the study of history is essential to shaping our students' understanding of the world. As a Teacher of History in our esteemed Faculty of Humanities, you'll play a vital role in guiding students through this captivating journey of discovery.

Within the structured framework of the Middle Years Programme (MYP) Humanities curriculum, which runs from grades 6 to 10, which runs from grades 6 to 10, the role may also involve teaching our Integrated Humanities course. With meticulously crafted lessons and interactive discussions, you'll cultivate critical thinking skills and foster a deeper understanding of the complexities of a combination of Humanities subjects.

In addition, as an integral part of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP), your expertise will help prepare students for the challenges of higher education and beyond. In this rigorous academic environment, the IBDP History course serves as a platform for scholarly exploration and intellectual engagement, allowing students to immerse themselves in nuanced historical narratives and develop essential research skills under your guidance.

As a qualified educator, you'll master the intricacies of the IBDP curriculum and know how to work with students from diverse backgrounds. Your passion for history, combined with your ability to inspire and engage students, will pave the way for enriching learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build a strong profile for the subject within and beyond the Humanities Faculty, by working collaboratively and with a commitment to continuous improvement and development of the quality of students’ learning
  • Develop and deploy resources to support high quality student learning, by planning effective teaching programmes which provide exemplary learning opportunities within and beyond the classroom
  • Make effective use of formative and summative assessment to plan challenging learning opportunities for all students and effectively using homework and other extra-curricular learning opportunities
  • Support the academic progress of a small group of students within one of our boarding house
  • Act as coach and mentor to individual tutees
  • Contribute to whole school learning initiatives


EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong knowledge in IBDP curriculum
  • Relevant degree in History or similar
  • Teaching qualification
  • English native level speaker and French proficiency an asset


EXPERIENCE

  • 2 years’ teaching experience
  • Experience of being part of a highly successful department and school
  • Demonstrable evidence of innovating and adapting curricula to engage children and enable them to perform highly
  • Experience of delivering a UK National Curriculum and/or the IB Diploma
