Job overview

Oriel Sociology, Philosophy, Ethics and Theology

INNOVATIVE, MOTIVATED AND SUCCESSFUL

• The Oriel Humanities Faculty currently consists of five key subject areas; Business, Geography, History, and Sociology, Philosophy, Ethics, Values and Theology. Each subject area has a substantive subject leader. The Faculty benefits from a base containing 9 teaching classrooms, a well appointed Humanities resource room and additional smaller seminar rooms for Sixth Form teaching.

• The most popular GCSE and A level options consistently come from within the Humanities Faculty.

• Our aim is to offer a broad, diverse and engaging curriculum, within each of the subject disciplines. Our curriculum is collaboratively developed and well-resourced to ensure that our students benefit from the best possible teaching to maximise their achievement. We offer a broad range of curricular and extra-curricular enrichment opportunities to enhance student learning and engagement. Teachers are trusted as professionals to make the best decisions about how they teach to best meet the needs of the students in their classes.

• The Humanities team is committed to ensuring that every student benefits from a high quality Humanities education, allowing them access to greater future opportunities.

We are looking to appoint someone who…...

• Is knowledgeable and passionate about all aspects of Sociology who is motivated to support students in achieving their full potential and who wants to join a committed and enthusiastic team.

• Will lead in providing first-class teaching and learning for our students; as well as being an excellent collaborator to drive the knowledge agenda and pedagogy within the department.

• Is able to teach Sociology across KS4 and KS5.

• The ability to contribute to the teaching of Philosophy, Ethics, Values and Theology would be an advantage.

• Is willing to support the department in delivering extra-curricular opportunities, and study-supports sessions guiding students with their on-going learning at GCSE and A-Level.

We have excellent support for ECTs and would welcome applications from newly qualified teachers who would like to grow and develop in an innovative and forward thinking department; or more experienced teachers. Oriel has a detailed ECT training package praised by West Sussex and actively encourages CPD throughout the school with a comprehensive program for teachers at all stages of their careers.
