Position Information 

Miller Technology High School is a comprehensive high school located in Sydney South West with an enrolment of approximately 800 students, with 85% of students from Language Backgrounds Other than English (LBOTE) and 10% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. A well-established Intensive English Centre is located onsite provides English instruction and cultural orientation for new arrivals, refugees and international students. A Support Faculty provides high quality educational experiences for students with special learning needs.

The school has a low socio-economic status with a strong focus on quality teaching, literacy, numeracy, engagement and connected learning. Our students have access to a broad curriculum with our Positive Behaviour for Learning core values of Respect, Inspire, Safe and Excel supporting an inclusive learning environment to aspire students to be the best they can possibly be. What makes our school special is our enthusiastic staff and the number of unique partnerships with universities, industry, and community organisations to enhance students’ real-life learning and pathways to post-school options.

Specific Selection Criteria 
  1. Approval to teach Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (7-12), Sport, Lifestyle and Recreation, Community and Family Studies and Exploring Early Childhood/Child Studies and Physical Activity & Sports Studies.  Willingness to undertake training in Sports Coaching.
  2. Capacity to work collaboratively and collegially in a faculty, with evidence of interpersonal, communication and organisational skills that build positive relationships with students, parents, staff and wider community.
  3. Capacity for effective classroom management and student wellbeing practices that support an inclusive learning environment that promotes positive relationships with students.
  4. Ability to plan and deliver innovative and differentiated teaching and learning programs to engage students with diverse learning needs from low socio-economic, Aboriginal and EAL/D backgrounds.
  5. Capacity to create and effectively deliver practical units of work and engage students in practical settings.
  
Conditions 

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
