Actual Salary £30,000 - £46,525 per annum (M1 to UP3)

This job is Full Time. 

It is offered on a Permanent basis.

Approximate start date 01-Sep-2024.

The successful candidate will need to be able to deliver their specialism up to A level. We are looking for a colleague who has a real passion for their subject, who is reflective and able to enthuse, motivate and challenge their students. The ideal candidate upholds high standards in their teaching and professional development and has high expectations for student learning.

We would welcome applications from Early Career Teachers.

The science department encourages STEM initiatives and our teams have reached National Levels in both the Land rover 4x4 Challenge and Flying Start Challenge before the Covid pandemic and this is something we are trying to re-establish moving forward. We also run in school Science competitions, Gardening club and other STEM Opportunities for students.

The successful candidate will be joining a department of 8 Science specialist teacher and 2 Science technicians. Science is a popular subject in the school and we offer AQA Separate Sciences and AQA Combined Science Trilogy options at GCSE. Our Key Stage 3 & 4 Schemes of work are based on AQA’s five year curriculum and we are well resourced, with access to Kerboodle for all our students as well as text books available at both Key Stage 3 and 4 for class work. 

At A level we teach the OCR-A Specifications in Chemistry, Biology and Physics. These courses are co-taught with our Beaminster School colleagues. These are all very popular courses and our students make excellent progress during their studies in the Joint Sixth Form.  

Our department supports PGCE and Schools direct trainees through our work with the Jurassic Coast Alliance and we have several staff involved in training our students. 

A clean driving licence and your own transport is essential for travel across the Trust’s multiple sites and schools.
