Tockington Manor School is a small independent Preparatory School situated in an idyllic location just north of Bristol. This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly motivated, enthusiastic and committed individual to join our team.

We are seeking a new school teaching assistant to support various roles and activities throughout the school. The teaching assistant will have the opportunity to work with various age groups and classes, as well as take on additional duties outside of the classroom such as extracurricular activities like breakfast club, supper club and sports. The teaching assistant will help the education and welfare of children as directed by class teachers and share in the corporate responsibility for the wellbeing and discipline of all students. 

If you have a child-centred approach, good interpersonal skills and can build positive working relationships with adults and children we would love to hear from you. We welcome applications from those with varying levels of experience, from those with previous teaching assistant experience to those that wish to gain more exposure to the field before embarking on a career in education.  

The successful candidate should have a good level of education and will: 

  • have a child-centred approach 
  • be able to establish a supportive relationship with children and staff 
  •  have good interpersonal skills and able to use their own initiative, as well as working well as part of a team 
  •  be able to work under pressure whilst maintaining a calm and patient approach 
  • provide the class teacher with objective and accurate feedback as required 
  • an interest in sports such as hockey, netball and cricket and ability to support games is essential

This is a term-time only position (to include staff INSET days). The hours of work are 37.5 hours a week with the potential to pick up additional hours outside of contracted hours. This is a fixed term contract (FTC) with the potential to go permanent. Start date is September 2024 ending 31 August 2025.
