Location: SAIL Academy, Salisbury, Wiltshire, SP2 9HS

FTE Salary Range: NJC Grade I pt 18-20 £32,076 - £33,945 pro rata

Contract Type: Permanent, full-time, term time only (39 weeks per year)

Contract Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday

About the role

Pastoral Manager Secondary is an exciting new role at SAIL Academy. Under the direction of the Assistant Headteachers, you will lead the implementation of pastoral care for KS3/4 pupils at our School. In this role, you will:

  • Meet regularly with Teachers to monitor behaviour and attendance
  • Embed clear routines and expectations for the behaviour of pupils across all aspects of school life
  • Develop needs-led individual behaviour support plans for KS3/4 pupils
  • Provide advice and guidance to the wider staff team to support them in the delivery of support plans
  • Co-ordinate and implement targeted interventions, including ELSA and Thrive
  • Work as part of the Safeguarding Team


About the successful candidate

Our new Pastoral Manager will:

  • Have an understanding of learning needs and the importance of raising achievement
  • Be familiar and able to assess pupils using the Thrive online assessment
  • Have data analysis skills and the ability to use data to inform provision planning
  • Have proven leadership and management skills with a clear vision and strategy for providing high quality, inclusive education
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships


Experience and skills in the following areas are desirable, but not essential:

  • De-escalation and physical intervention training
  • Experience of working with pupils with SEMH needs
  • Experience of planning, delivery and evaluation of interventions
  • Level 3 or above safeguarding training


About the School

SAIL (Salisbury Academy for Inspiration Learners) is a day specialist provider of education in Salisbury, Wiltshire for children and young people aged from 4 to 19 years who have a diagnosis of Autism or an SEMH profile.

We are a growing school which opened in September 2023 and currently have around 80 students. Our aim is to build safe, independent lives for the Autistic and SEMH population through a process of understanding, support, and enablement. We personalise each child’s curriculum, care, and therapeutic package to support them to achieve and experience success and independence.

About the Trust

Reach South is a young and developing Trust which operates across the South West of England with the aim of delivering all through 3-19 education. We operate 17 academies in Bournemouth, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire. We are building this Trust on a clear set of values, behaviours and curriculum principles.
