Job overview

Due to expansion of our team and opening hours from September 2024, we are now looking for new colleagues to either run, or help run, our After School Care for children ages 2-11 during term times. We are also looking for cover staff to help out short-term or on an ad hoc basis for After School Care.

The roles are from 4-6.30pm, Monday-Friday, term-time only. Applicants who can offer some of these days are also welcome to apply – please state which days on your application form.

You will look after the children who are staying after school, ensuring that they are relaxed and happy and engaging in gentle activities that you have organised, suitable for their ‘down time’. You will be actively engaged with the children in activities and will want to spend time chatting with them and encouraging their creativity and play. You will be based in the library with access to an immediate outside area and After School Care resources and will have a budget for developing activities. You will offer children snacks and drinks prepared by the kitchen and encourage good manners when eating. You will receive children from their class teachers, or from after school clubs, signing them in to After School Care, and will hand them over personally to parents when they come to collect them.

  • At least L3 in a relevant area for the supervisor role; L2 in a relevant area for staff roles;
  • Paediatric first aid certificate;
  • Ability to complete food hygiene qualification if not a current holder;
