KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Safeguarding

  • To be the designated safeguarding lead across the school.
  • To lead and develop the safeguarding requirements of the school, including safeguarding with regards to:
  • policy & procedure – specifically: safeguarding children and young people (including online safety); safeguarding vulnerable adults; behaviour; attendance; staff code of conduct; countering bullying; CCTV & Surveillance; drugs and alcohol; supporting pupils with medical conditions
  • Child protection
  • Source of advice, support and guidance for staff
  • Point of contact with safeguarding partners such as: Local authorities, CAMHs, Prevent, Police, LADO, Virtual Schools, Social services etc
  • Mental health
  • Welfare
  • Staff training
  • Recruitment and staff records
  • Health & safety
  • School site and visitors

 

Behaviour, Attendance and other responsibilities

  • To develop, deploy and monitor the school's behaviour strategy.
  • To develop, deploy and monitor the school's attendance strategy.
  • To support the development of staff by devising and delivering high quality training.
  • To support programmes of meetings and training to further whole school development.
  • To line manage the link workers.
  • To work as part of the Senior Leadership Team in developing policy and practice within the school and providing leadership to staff and pupils.
  • To work collaboratively within the Senior leadership team, informing and sharing best practice and supporting where necessary.
  • To deputise in the absence of the Deputy Principal (Education).
  • To complete any other duties reasonably expected of them, as directed by the Principal.

Meadows School is a non-maintained school, run by Barnardo’s. We provide education and care for young people who have social, emotional and mental health difficulties.

We offer both residential and day care to girls and boys who are aged between 7 and 19 years old and have a statement of special educational needs or are in the process of application with completion due shortly.

The school building is purpose-built and offers excellent facilities on a 19 acre site. We offer a broad curriculum tailored to individual needs in order to help our pupils achieve their full potential.

This includes:

  • opportunities to study for GCSE’s, Entry Level Certificates and AQA Unit Awards
  • regular residential and day trips
  • providing a key worker to work with every young person and their parents or carers throughout their time at the school
  • celebrating achievements through assemblies and weekly and annual prize giving ceremonies
