About our school

A warm welcome to Unity College. We are looking for enthusiastic and resilient teachers with prior experience of working in SEND settings to join our ever-expanding team. We offer a bespoke educational provision in a nurturing environment for our secondary age students (Y7 - post 16), who are all in care of the local authority. We operate on two sites, the main site is in West Wycombe and our satellite nurture base is in the outskirts of Aylesbury. Both school sites offer safe and caring spaces for students to express feeling, emotions, and anxieties that can be barriers to learning. We also offer specialist vocational learning spaces, designated teaching rooms, and outdoor learning opportunities.

 

Overview of the role of Assistant Headteacher:

·       Joining the Senior Leadership Team to provide outstanding leadership and management of the school.

·       Have a deep and accurate understanding of the school’s strategies for improvement.

·       Attending multi-agency meetings to effectively support our pupils.

·       Providing exemplary pastoral care across the school

·       Contribute to the mental health and wellbeing of staff and students.

·       Deputise for the Deputy Headteacher and Headteacher, when required, and in their absence.

·       Leading on pastoral care across our two sites

·       Ensuring safeguarding measures are robust and efficient across both sites.

·       Supporting all staff with effective behaviour management.

·       Contribute to the appraisal process and inductions of new staff within the school.

·       Small teaching timetable

·       Delivering safeguarding training

·       Identifying safeguarding trends and reporting these to the wider Senior Leadership Team

·       Lead on safeguarding during Local Authority and Ofsted inspections

·       Develop strong relationships with professional services and community groups

·       Identify and support with behaviour management training needs within the school

·       Maintaining accurate records of behaviour incidents

·       Leading on behaviour and safeguarding across the school as directed by the Headteacher
