Job overview

Due to the continued growth of our new school, we are seeking to appoint an additional Assistant Headteacher, responsible for Teaching and Learning.  We are looking for a highly motivated, dynamic and innovative individual with an excellent track record and experience of leading successful whole school priorities, to help shape and ensure the success of our school and its students. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant contribution to the further development of Bohunt Horsham, a brand new, all-through school in Horsham.  Specific responsibilities will be assigned to the successful candidate dependent upon experience, career aspirations and individual strengths.

We are a new free school, in our third year since opening, currently home to students in years 7, 8 and 9 and having just moved into our brand new building just north of Horsham, West Sussex. Over the next few years we will grow to become an all-through school for 1620 students aged 4-16 with a nursery facility. We are part of the supportive and innovative Bohunt Education Trust, a MAT with eight schools including two Sixth Forms and a boarding facility. We may be separated geographically, however, all BET schools share an uncompromising belief in high achievement and high expectations, a real sense of community and a dynamic, innovative approach to education. Every BET school is unique, with its own distinctive identity.

Our ethos is simple: enjoy, respect, achieve. Above all we value a love of learning and actively promote the characteristics that make lifelong learners such as curiosity, hard work, critical thinking and a thirst for knowledge. We champion values that will ensure our learners make the world a better place including empathy, tolerance and kindness. Our students are empowered and supported which enables them to build the life skills such as resilience, confidence and courage, which will help them to overcome obstacles that may stand in the way of achieving their potential, we are looking for someone who will share this vision and drive our school’s continual growth.

As a new, all-through school, in state of the art brand new facilities we know we are a unique prospect to consider and we are always happy to talk informally to potential candidates. Alongside our recruitment open morning on January 29, 2022 we welcome interested candidates for tours by prior arrangement.

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to a two-day interview process, during the week of 14 February 2022 (dates TBC).

BET is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Employment is subject to a satisfactory enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

We are committed to equality of opportunity for all staff and applications from individuals are encouraged regardless of age, disability, sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief and marriage and civil partnerships.  As a Trust, we are happy to discuss flexible working opportunities.

We anticipate a high level of interest in this role and we reserve the right to withdraw this vacancy at any time ahead of the closing date if there is a good level of response. Therefore, we recommend that you submit your application as early as possible.

Please be advised that references may be requested upon receipt of your application. Please state if you wish this to be delayed until shortlisting/interviews have taken place.
