The Governors are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, dynamic and outstanding Assistant Headteacher, Pastoral lead, for September 2018.

  • A practising Catholic and able to provide a faith reference.
  • An excellent classroom practitioner with a clear sense of purpose and high expectations;
  • Able to play a large part in ensuring the Catholic ethos permeates all that we do 
  • Able to lead and manage Heads of Years to establish a clear ethos and identity for their year group in line with the school’s ethos, vision and improvement priorities, so that pupils know they will all learn and progress, and will become good people that we are proud to know.
  • Able to serve as one of the Designated Safeguarding Leads within school, ensuring that all safeguarding policies and procedures are followed and implemented by staff.
  • Looking to take the next step in your career without leaving the classroom entirely.

We have been oversubscribed for the last four  years and are truly comprehensive, in that we take students from across the town, including from the most affluent and deprived areas.  We have a strong focus on the personal development of each individual student and aim to encourage in them a desire to achieve to their full potential in all areas of school life - spiritual, academic, creative, physical and emotional. Whilst valuing academic excellence through strong academic, vocational and extra-curricular programmes, it is equally important to us that students are able to develop into well-rounded, happy, capable, tolerant, compassionate people who recognise their self-worth. We are also particularly proud of our sporting tradition.

Cardinal Newman Catholic High School is a mixed, non-selective, Roman Catholic, comprehensive secondary school, situated near Warrington in Cheshire. There are currently 815 students aged 11-16 on the school roll.
