Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a Clerical Assistant/Secretary at Maple Hayes Hall School in Lichfield. Maple Hayes is a small specialist school for pupils aged 7-17 that have a diagnosis of Dyslexia.

Hours to be Monday- to Friday 8.15 am. – 5.00 pm. There will also be the requirement to attend on Prize giving Day. During school holidays working hours are 9am – 1pm on a shared basis with other office staff member.

Salary: £20,000.00 - £24,000.00 per annum

Holiday Entitlement: 28 days per annum

The successful candidate must be a highly organised and enthusiastic individual, providing administrative support for the school, undertaking a wide range of administrative tasks as required by the School Manager and Headteacher. Experience of working with Microsoft Office and good skills in Excel and Word are desirable. A knowledge of SIMS would be highly beneficial.

You will join a dedicated and experienced team and as the first point of contact for the School, will work in partnership with pupils, Staff, Parents and outside agencies. You must be able to work flexibly.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Provide a reception service, in person and on the telephone.
  • Undertake a wide range of administrative tasks as required by the School Manager and Headteacher
  •  Undertake word processing of letters, reports, meeting minutes.
  • Management of the EHCP annual review meetings and returning the updated paperwork within the deadlines set by the Local Authority.
  • Send out correspondence and filing
  • Maintain and update records and administration systems
  •  Maintain the student database and attendance registers
  • Take and distribute meeting minutes
  •  Liaise with parents, students and outside agencies
  • First Aid duties.
  •  To organise and prioritise own workload to ensure deadlines are met
  • To be a Designated Safeguarding Officer
  • To work effectively as a member of a team, as well as under own initiative
  • any other duties deemed necessary to assist in the smooth running of the school.
