Moor Allerton Preparatory School is an independent co-educational day school situated at the heart of the vibrant Didsbury area of South Manchester with an excellent reputation for academics and pastoral care. Each year in July, we bid farewell to confident, polite and impressive Year Six children as they complete their time at Moor Allerton and head towards success at the top senior schools in the Manchester area.

“Pupils benefit from a broad and balanced curriculum which prepared them very well for their next stage of education”

Founded in 1914 as an independent preparatory school for boys, the school became co-educational with a nursery and infant classes in 1981. With most pupils living within a five-mile radius of the school, Moor Allerton feels like a school at the centre of its community.

“Positive and nurturing relationships between teachers and pupils support learning effectively…Pupils are confident and self-assured and enjoy their time in school”

Classes of no more than 20 pupils help us to cultivate a caring, family atmosphere in which every child can feel at home, where staff know them all, and all children achieve. We encourage and enable our children to think for themselves, to be confident in their own abilities and to develop into individuals who are caring, confident and independent.

“The school provides a wealth of opportunities for pupils to develop their creative skills across the arts and in music”

All quotes from our latest Ofsted Inspection Report (Nov 2018)

Moor Allerton enjoys a deserved reputation for consistently high academic achievements as well as notable successes in dance, drama, music and sport. We are guided by a simple truth – that only a happy child learns. Only happy children have the confidence to stretch themselves and to explore the world about them.
