This is a permanent, term-time only role (plus one week), working 35 hours per week with 7 sleep ins per 4 weeks

Working Weeks and Holiday: 40 weeks per year (term time plus one week), plus 6.22 weeks paid leave

Salary: £28,767.51 per annum (FTE: £32,365) plus sleep over allowance of £2,681.67 per annum.


We have an exciting opportunity for a caring and committed individual to join our Residential Care team at Dawn House School.

As a Deputy Residential Manager working in our school’s residential department, you will be an integral part of our fantastic team who put our pupils at the heart of everything we do as we work together with colleagues to maximise their children and young people’s life chances.

In the absence of the Residential Manager, you will be responsible for all aspects of the residential department creating a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment. You will lead the residential staff to develop and run activities that are fun, whilst supporting skill development, ensuring the quality of care is maintained across all shifts.


We are looking for candidates:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Caring for Children & Young People, or equivalent.
  • Evidence of sustained participation in relevant training.
  • A willingness to undertake training if not completed NVQ Level 5 for Caring for Children & Young people, or equivalent.
  • Who can motivate and work as part of a thriving team
  • Significant experience in a residential child’s care setting at a senior level.
  • Experience and knowledge of behaviour management and physical interventions.
  • Experience in a leadership/managerial role within Residence.
  • Experience of carrying out supervisions, staff management and inductions.
  • That can manage a varied workload, problem solve whilst remaining calm under pressure
  • With an understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures
