Job overview

JFS has been at the heart of the Jewish community since its founding in 1732. Originally established as a place where orphaned Jewish children could receive a Jewish education, JFS is now the largest Jewish school in Europe, with 2000 students. We aim to achieve excellence in everything that we do and were named the 2023 Top-Performing state school of the year in the ‘Sunday Times’ Parent Power list as well as achieving a Progress 8 score of +1.20 which places us as one of the top 30 secondary schools nationally. However good our results are though, we recognise that there is so much more to a school than academic success alone and we are deeply fortunate to have community support that has allowed us to build something far more than just a normal state school.

In superb facilities, populated by a superb staff, everyone in JFS is united in trying to do the very best that we can for the children in our care. Whilst much of what we do costs nothing, in a sector of ever-shrinking resource, it is community contributions that sustain us. To that end, we are seeking to appoint a Director of Fundraising to build an exceptional fundraising function in the school. As someone with close ties to the community, we are seeking someone to build and manage relationships with larger donors and Foundations as well as ensure that parental contributions are as high as possible. We want the community to see JFS as a centrepiece of Anglo Jewry and we want to do everything that we can to make sure we are something that the community is proud of. In this endeavour, we are extremely fortunate to have Lord Michael Levy as our President and he has been instrumental in the success of our school.

We are seeking someone who has a strong track record of fundraising and for whom starting building something from the ground up is an exciting challenge rather than daunting. In the first instance, we assume that three days a week would meet the needs of the school as well as provide flexibility for the successful candidate, but this is not set in stone and we are happy to form the role around the right person. To that end, we welcome applications from all backgrounds and should you have any questions at all about the position or the school, please do contact the Headteacher directly using david.moody@jfs.brent.sch.uk.

Closing Date: Friday, 31 May 2024 by noon

Interview: TBC

Applications from candidates of faith or non-faith backgrounds are most welcome.

JFS shall reserve the right to shortlist candidates and interview prior to the closing date.

Any unsolicited CVs sent by any agency to us, in any situation where we have not directly engaged the agency in writing to supply candidates for a specific vacancy will be considered to be a “free gift”, leaving us liable for no fees whatsoever should we choose to contact the candidate directly and engage the candidate’s services. Unsolicited CV’s will in no way establish any claim by the agency to representation of that candidate.
