Job overview
DT/Food Technology Teacher
Three days per week
We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified and enthusiastic Design Technology Teacher who can teach Food Technology to Key Stages 3 and 4. The successful candidate will enjoy working in this small, family-centred non-selective girls’ school that has high aspirations, low average class sizes and great results.
DT is a well-established and highly successful subject at DSTC. We have a range of specialist teaching areas including Food, Textiles and CAD CAM rooms as well as a wood workshop and Computer Suite. The department consists of four specialist DT teachers and a full time technician.
In Key Stage 3 our students rotate through a range of disciplines including Food, Product Design and Textiles. In Key Stage 4 many students opt to continue their studies in one of the following courses:
• 601/7703/2 WJEC Level 1/2 Award in Hospitality and Catering.
• AQA Design Technology (where they will work in a range of materials including wood, plastic, papers/boards or textiles).
Our current Year 10 cohort will complete their studies following the AQA Product Design course.
Dartford Science and Technology College is a Good school where "pupils achieve well and thrive" and "all groups of pupils achieve well" (Ofsted March 2017). We have a clear vision for the future and have set a range of challenging targets. This is a high quality learning community for girls aged 11-18 with a mixed Sixth Form. Our ethos puts learning at the heart of everything we do.
DSTC is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all its staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

About Dartford Science & Technology College
We are proud to be a popular and oversubscribed stand alone Foundation school working with the Co-operative Trust. Consequently we embrace the Trust ethos of self-help, self-responsibility, democracy, equity, equality and solidarity. We are the only non-selective girls’ school in Dartford which makes us unique. Despite the competitive environment of the selective system, many of our students have passed the Kent selection test and thrive in our ambitious, developmental and safe environment: regardless of their starting point, all students have the opportunity to flourish.
It is an exciting time in our journey and all staff have the opportunity to drive meaningful change. We have a culture of high quality teaching underpinned by a belief that all lessons should challenge, support and inspire students to be intellectually curious and develop a lifelong passion for learning. We are aspirational for our students and promote engagement in learning across the school and teachers enjoy being able to teach in an environment which prioritises this.
