Sylvia Young Theatre school is seeking to appoint an experienced Exams Officer to join us for September 2024.


Are you an individual who is a team player, flexible, organised, hard working and committed to enabling children to flourish?

Being an Exams Officer holds a lot of responsibility and you are expected to uphold the high standards of JCQ and be very professional at all times supporting all stakeholders, which includes students, staff and parents. You will have an eye for detail and the ability to work accurately.

The successful candidate will have experience in assessment and data management and can work to a high level of accuracy. You will need to rigorously follow all the exam body procedures. During the external exams you will manage and lead on the training for examination invigilators. Key tasks will be ensuring compliance with JCQ regulations, meeting Exam Board deadlines, ensuring safe storage and confidentiality of public examination materials, ensuring safe and secure distribution of examination scripts and NEA material to relevant bodies and handling remark requests and appeals on behalf of pupils. You will also support our Directors with the entry tests for our admission processes and the assessments that we complete in Key stage 3 such as MidYis and Yellis.

The role is offered as the following:

  • Part time position - Exams Officer.

The role offers the opportunity for flexibility with the days outside of the scheduled public exam periods.

We welcome applications from those who have current or previous experience of being an Exams Officer in a school or educational provider. We would consider training someone up to be an Exams Officer if they had significant experience in a different school role.

Sylvia Young Theatre School is a mixed, non-denominational independent secondary school in Westminster, serving students from the age of 10-16. The secondary school, situated in Marble Arch has approximately 210 students on record.

Sylvia Young Theatre School was founded in 1981. In 2010, it moved to a new building in Nutford Place, with facilties including rehearsal rooms, a recording studios and courtyard gardens. Students follow an academic programme alongside their vocational training in the performing arts (drama, dance and singing). The school has it’s own agency – The Sylvia Young Agency, which represents full time students and boasts strong industry links.
