Are you a skilled and tenacious individual ready to become the Executive Assistant to the CEO and Trust Board of our flourishing Academy Trust?  Acting as both an EA to the Trust and a Governance Professional / Company Secretary for the Trust, we are seeking someone who can demonstrate resilience, motivation and commitment to high standards of work and achieving excellence and who is ready to make this new and exciting role their own.

The successful applicant will have a demonstrated attention to detail, planning and organising, and the potential ability to successfully work closely with and for the benefit of executive leaders and a Board.  They will need to be an expert administrator capable of working closely with a busy CEO and executive team.

A strong communicator, with a practical approach to problem solving who can act as a point of communication between the Directors and the Executive, you will be asked to provide diligent, clear administrative guidance and support. You must be able to work independently on your own initiative to meet strict deadlines whilst at the same time forming effective relationships with Directors, Headteachers and the wider staff.

The ideal applicant will have (or be willing to train to achieve) skills in business administration/company secretarial requirements/knowledge of school/Trust/governing body procedures. The postholder will manage all meetings at Board level within the Trust. This will include the collation of agendas, circulation of documents, taking of accurate minutes and generally ensuring that every meeting runs smoothly and efficiently. They will also administrate the Trust website so that all statutory documents and other information is up-to-date and easily accessible.

 The majority of the role will be carried out during the school day, although there will be some evening meetings you will be required to attend (presently there are 14 meetings across 12 months, though some or even all of these may move to the working day in future). Whilst the role will be based in Bishop’s Stortford, the successful candidate will need to be willing to travel to Trust schools (all of whom are within half an hour of Bishop’s Stortford).

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. A DBS disclosure is required for all successful applicants. The St Francis of Assisi Catholic Academy Trust is committed to the equality of opportunity for all applicants, and we reserve the right to interview on a rolling basis, therefore an early application is advisable.

Welcome

St. Mary’s has a strong tradition of providing an authentic education which aims to deliver excellence for every member of our Catholic community. It is our mission to build on that tradition as we develop the school still further over the years ahead.

Our school is built upon an ambitious mission for each and every young person: to fulfil academic potential; to be fully developed in the personal, social and spiritual areas of life; to achieve excellence in every area of life; and to be underpinned by Gospel Values, enabling each person to value individuals and contribute positively to society. We work in partnership with parents and the wider community to ensure that this mission is accomplished in the lives of all our young people, and in so doing, enable those young people to live life to the full.

The aims of the school are:

• the formation of our young people according to Gospel values;
• the fulfilment of the potential of our pupils in all aspects of the curriculum;
• the personal, social and spiritual development of our pupils into responsible, generous and caring members of society;
• the achievement of all these within a culture of respect and appreciation for the worth and contribution of each member of our school and its wider community.

In 1896, five Sisters from the Belgian congregation of St Mary of Namur came to Bishop's Stortford and established a school with just 9 students.  These pioneering Sisters were the first to provide Catholic education for the district, and the school rapidly became a success. Their legacy is St Mary’s Catholic School, and as we look to the future with high expectations for continued success, their vision continues to inspire us. This is expressed in our aspiration towards academic excellence founded on Gospel values. In practical terms this also means the best possible pastoral care and guidance and the challenge and support of a broad range of spiritual opportunities which permeate through all aspects of school life.
