Job overview

Following excellent results in the summer of 2022, and the continued growth of our school, we are seeking to appoint an excellent leader to take on the Head of Computing to innovate and develop an aspirational curriculum for all of our students.

The computing department has consistently seen strong outcomes at GCSE, and we are keen to continue to improve these even further and remove barriers for all of our students. As such, we are seeking a candidate that will further enhance the skill-set within the department and have the vision and drive to take the department to the next stage of their journey to being world class.

The successful applicant will be enthusiastic, firmly believing that all students can achieve and committed to ensuring all students and staff aspire for their best every lesson of every day.

St Andrew’s is on a journey, and the successful applicants would join a collegiate and supportive staff team. It is a community school that has love at its core. You see it in the relationships between staff and students; both in the classrooms and the corridors; and in the excellent pastoral care that every student is given. Many describe being part of our school community as being like ‘family’. Our core Christian values run through all that we do, both in daily life and in strategic development.

We have the highest expectations and aspirations for all members of our community, and accept nothing less than an individual’s best. We recognise that we are all unique, with unique training and developmental needs – and we aim to give every staff member the best CPD to enable them to reach their career goals, no matter what that goal may be.

It truly is an exciting time to join St Andrew’s. With considerable change afoot, there is so much impact to be made as the school goes from strength to strength.

We would welcome any interested applicants to be in touch and visit the school. Details on how to do this are in the application pack.

About St Andrew's C of E High School

St Andrew’s C of E High School is a co-educational CofE secondary school in West Sussex, serving pupils from the age of 11-16, situated in Worthing.  With a pan of 180 per year group, St Andrew’s is a small and community centred school in which every child is known and loved.  Having been graded Good in all areas by Ofsted in April 2023, the school continues on its rapid journey of improvement and growth.

St Andrew’s is a community school that has love at its core.  You see it in the relationships between staff and students; both in the classrooms and the corridors; and in the excellent pastoral care that every student is given. Students and staff alike have described being part of our school community as being like ‘family’; both giving and receiving unrelenting love.

Our curriculum is broad and balanced, and enables all students to develop a love of learning alongside focusing on their academic rigour.  As we continue to grow, our enrichment offer grows with us – learning does not happen only within a classroom, and our extra-curricular offer continues to develop to reflect this.

We are driven to achieving excellence in all areas, with a keen focus on the narrative journey of the curriculum.  We firmly believe that every child can achieve excellence, and that every child has the right to an excellent education.

St Andrew’s is a community that continually seeks to improve, and therefore embraces change and new ideas.  There is so much impact to be made within our community, and we work hard to put them, our students, first in all that we do.
