Ossett Academy & Accord Sixth Form are seeking to appoint a dedicated and highly skilled Head of Social Sciences with vision, expertise, imagination and the desire to lead a forward-thinking team from September 2024.

We are looking for an outstanding practitioner who can enthuse, engage, empower and inspire both pupils and staff to achieve to the best of their ability. You will have demonstrable experience of leading others to deliver successful outcomes or be an aspiring middle leader with proven experience in your field. The ability and experience to teach at A Level is essential as you will form an integral part of the Post 16 Team at Accord Sixth.

The Social Sciences department at consists of Sociology, Psychology, Law and Health & Social Care and the department is largely based in our purpose built Sixth Form building (Accord Sixth). All subjects are hugely popular in our high-performing Sixth Form, and some subjects are a popular and successful option at GCSE.

If you have the vision and skills to deliver inspirational teaching whilst having the focus and drive to ensure our provision in respect of Social Science is empowering and engaging for our pupils, we’d love to hear from you.

Ossett Academy is an 11-19 academy with over 1670 pupils, including 300 in our Sixth Form. It has gained a reputation for excellence, maintaining high standards across all aspects of academy life with high academic attainment and an explosion of extra-curricular opportunity and talent. As a result of these factors and their strong reputation, they are significantly over-subscribed.
