Position Information 

Terrigal High School is a leading comprehensive, co-educational secondary school on the Central Coast. The school has a student population of approx. 855, including a Support Unit with four multi-categorical classes. The school reflects the diversity of the local community with a full range of socio-economic and educational backgrounds.

The school is located on Darkinjung land with 5% of the total student population identifying Aboriginal heritage. The school has a close partnership with the local Kuriwa AECG to enhance Aboriginal cultural programs for all students and staff to address the needs of Aboriginal students. 

Terrigal High School has placed student centred, evidence-based practice at the core of all teaching and learning programs. Terrigal High School has a strong partnership with Terrigal Public School and Erina Heights Public School, which together form the Terrigal Learning Alliance, to ensure continuity of learning from kindergarten to Year 12. Terrigal High School has forged respectful and collaborative relationships with wider school community and has a vibrant and committed P&C. 

  
Specific Selection Criteria 
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,

Demonstrated instructional leadership skills to monitor and assess student learning through use of data and evidence-informed evaluative teaching practices to lead improvement within the faculty, for staff at all stages of their career.

Demonstrated visible leadership with the capacity to work collaboratively with the executive team to drive whole school improvement through effective implementation of initiatives aligned to the Strategic Improvement Plan.

Demonstrated capacity to collaboratively lead the planning and delivery of innovative, engaging programs and assessment that reflect the new mathematics curriculum for the full range of learners, in a complex comprehensive high school.

Outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to build the capacity of staff to enhance the engagement and wellbeing of students.

      
    General Selection Criteria 
    1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
    2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
    3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
    4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
    5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
    6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy

    An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
