The start date for this position falls at the ideal time for the successful candidate to have the opportunity to support the transition process from primary schools in the Summer Term ready to welcome the new Year 7 cohort in September 2024. They will then support the year group right through until they leave us in Year 11, allowing for real time and investment into our young people and their families.

Shuttleworth College is a mixed, mainstream secondary school in Padiham, near Burnley in Lancashire. It caters to students aged 11 to 16 and has approximately 1,111 pupils enrolled. 

Shuttleworth College was founded in September 2006 from the merger of Gawthorpe High School and Habergham High Sixth Form. It was provided with a brand-new facilities under the Building Schools for the Future programme. The school now boasts a restaurant-style kitchen, dance studio, sports hall, fitness room, tennis courts and all-weather sports pitches.

Shuttleworth College’s motto is "Think big. Chase dreams. Succeed together". Its main aim is to ensure every student has an enjoyable and well-rounded education that will allow them to safeguard their future. The secondary school believes creating a supportive learning community is key and it promotes resilience, perseverance and pride as values to uphold. 

Shuttleworth College favours the traditional disciplines of English, maths and science. Much of the curriculum centres on these subjects as the school believe this makes the movement to the next phase of education more seamless. Teachers provide a varied education for their students and a wide range of extra-curricular activities is on offer, including a yearly musical.
