Job overview
Stone Soup Alternative Provision (AP) Free School promotes effective and enjoyable learning. As an alternative provision free school, we tailor our environment and curriculum around the specific difficulties our students face.
Our school is seeking to appoint a new Principal who is able to inspire, enthuse and motivate pupils, staff and throughout the wider community. Our school is a unique, innovative and exciting provision based in the historic centre of Nottingham, serving students outside of mainstream education in an environment that encourages their academic and personal development.
The School
Stone Soup Academy is a school open for up to 80 pupils aged between 11-19 who are excluded from or at risk of exclusion from mainstream school. We were judged as an Outstanding AP school, in our first OFSTED inspection in May 2014.
Our school is over 10,000 square feet and boasts 12 classrooms, a student recreation room, a commercially-equipped kitchen, media suite and a joinery workshop. We currently have an ongoing development project which involves additional buildings within walking distance of the main site.
Our school is underpinned by 7 key principles and our mission is to give students the support they need to develop the skills necessary to re-engage with education and make significant progress in their personal and academic development. The school works in partnership with parents/caregivers and outside agencies involved in each student’s welfare to provide the best possible level of support and protection for all-round development, in keeping with our mission as an organisation.
The Role
Our new Principal will be someone who instinctively innovates and has expertise in working with students who are difficult to engage. They will be a courageous champion of children and families who knows and understands the landscape of Alternative Provision and it’s place in mainstream education. They will have a deep understanding of behaviour management and a sharp eye for advances in approaches to engagement and learning. They will understand that this is a school that will choose its own path, will form its own destiny, bespoke to the needs and challenges of our children and families.
If your curiosity is piqued by this once-in-a-career opportunity, we would love to hear from you.
