Following the establishment of an exciting new educational partnership between Ellesmere College, Shropshire in the UK and the Alruwad International School in Muscat, capital of the Sultanate of Oman, the Governing Body of Ellesmere Muscat are seeking to appoint a Principal with exceptional qualities of leadership, a passion for education and the vision to lead and develop the school as a beacon of academic and all-round excellence rooted in the unique culture of Oman. 

The vacancy arises following the appointment of the current Principal to a school in China after four years of successful leadership, during which time he guided the school to full IB status.

An all-through International Baccalaureate Continuum School, Ellesmere Muscat aspires to follow the model of Ellesmere in the UK in nurturing fully developed and morally grounded human beings, who will flourish as adults and improve the lives of those around them, contributing to Omani and global society.

Reporting to the Head of Ellesmere College in the UK and maintaining a close working relationship with the UK team, the Principal will help to develop the aims and objectives of the school as well as the policies for their implementation, overseeing the strategic direction and vision of the school partnership.

Outstanding candidates will possess the following qualities:

• Proven and successful experience in school leadership internationally, either as an outstanding deputy head or as an experienced head possessing the flair and energy to take on a second post.
• The ability to be a collegiate and collaborative team-player capable when necessary of decisive management and with the cultural sensitivity and diplomatic skills to gain the trust of parents, local education authorities, a vibrant community of pupils and teachers and the Board of Governors
• Confidence as a communicator, inspiring pupils and parents and relishing involvement and leadership in marketing and public relations activities
• A natural instinct for what is moral and uplifting
• Kindness and absolute integrity, as one who will always put the needs of the pupils first
