LANGLEY HALL PRIMARY ACADEMY TRUST

Our school is a single academy trust and has a reputation of developing children's learning and love for creativity within the arts.

The Principal will work closely with the Executive Head on the strategic development of the school, driving it forward to further develop an already effective school, taking opportunities to celebrate successes along the way. This is a new role that has potential to grow further over the next few years as new opportunities present themselves. The successful candidate will spend time across both school sites, working with the Executive Head to implement the schools strong ethos and vision and manage day to day operation of the School. We currently have 750 children in attendance at our School.

We focus on preparing children for life and our School's promise is for children to be happy at school and to leave us prepared for their next stage in life as confident independent learners, with high self-esteem and a sense of responsibility and tolerance in all they do. Our supportive caring ethos nurtures the development of both children and staff.

Remit:

· To continuously create and promote a safe learning environment and set performance goals.

· To provide the Executive Head with highly effective support in the leadership of the school.

· To ensure that the school’s aims, ethos and values are promoted at all times.

· To work as a part of the Senior Leadership Team and share responsibility for whole school standards, planning, monitoring, reviewing and evaluating pupil progress.

· To share responsibility for leading, supporting, and developing the school culture, ethos, aims, learning cycle and policies within the Senior Leadership Team environment.

- £58,017 to £78,454 (Group 3 leadership scale)

- Role & Responsibilities / Key Accountabilities

1. Creating the Future of the school

·        Working with the Executive Head, Senior Leadership team and governors to create the strategic vision for the School.

·        Motivate others to create a shared learning culture and positive climate through distribution of leadership through teams and individuals.

·        Translate the vision into agreed objectives and operational plans.

·        Use the trust structure to maximise and deploy both resources and expertise to raise achievement across the School.

2. Reading Teaching and Learning/outcomes and standards - Working through others to:

·        Work with the Schools assessment lead to ensure a continuous and consistent focus on pupils’ achievement, using data and benchmarks to monitor progress.

·        Establish creative, responsive and effective approaches to learning and teaching, taking a lead on the development of the curriculum, working with the Schools curriculum leads and champions.

·        Set high expectations and set stretching targets for the school community

·         Monitor, evaluate and review school practice and promote improvement strategies.

·        Identify and tackle any under-performance in any area.

3. Developing Self and Working with Others

·        Ensure the development of, and maintain effective strategies and procedures for, staff induction, professional development and performance review.

·        Promote and maintain a culture of high expectations for self and others.

·        Ensure effective planning, allocation, support and evaluation of work of teams and individuals.

·        Regularly review own practice, set personal targets and take responsibility for own development.

4. Managing the Organisation

·        Ensuring the ongoing development of an organisational structure which reflects the school’s values and enables effective and efficient operations.

·        Ensure evidence-based improvement plans and policies promote continuous school improvement.

·        Working with the school’s Executive Head and specialist administration tam to effectively manage the school’s human, financial and physical resources.

·        Recruit, retain and deploy staff appropriately.

5. Securing Accountability

·        Uphold the School’s ethos which enables everyone to work collaboratively.

·        Ensure individual staff accountabilities are clearly defined, understood, agreed and recorded.

·        Work with the governing body to enable it to meet its statutory responsibilities.

·        Ensure every individual child has access to high quality teaching and learning.

6. Strengthening Community

·        Create and promote positive strategies for challenging racial and other prejudice.

·        Ensure a range of community-based learning experiences.

·        Collaborate with other agencies to ensure pupil and community needs are met.

·        Use the trust to promote community cohesion and the trust framework to promote extended services and work with other partners.

Langley Hall Primary Academy opened in September 2011 under the government’s free school initiative. The teaching of numeracy and literacy are a key priority and is combined with a major focus on the teaching of the Creative Arts. Our school motto ‘Ad Vitam Paramus’ means ‘we are preparing for life’ and we fully embrace the belief that children learn best in an environment where they are happy, challenged, motivated and nurtured.
