Purpose of the job: Under the direction of a teacher, take responsibility for delegated learning activities. This involves a contribution to the planning and preparation of lessons; delivering learning activities for individuals/groups or whole classroom without the presence of the teacher and monitoring pupils by assessing, recording and reporting on their achievements, progress and development.

Livability Victoria School is a school for students aged 3-19 with primarily physical and medical needs and associated learning difficulties in Poole, Dorset. We also cater for a number of students with Autistic spectrum condition. We are a fully inclusive and integrated school that inspires and creates a wonderfully calm and nurturing environment.

The post holder will take the lead role in coordinating the organisation and management of a safe and purposeful learning environment, guiding the work of the class team to support teaching and learning in the classroom. You will assume the sole supervision of groups of students within the class, which may include delivering learning abilities, leading class assemblies and covering the whole class in the absence of the teacher.

Ideally you will have experience of working with children either in a special school or within an educational support setting. Additional knowledge of sensory integration and additional communication skills, such as, Makaton, would be an advantage.
