About the role

In this role, you’ll provide Speech and Language Therapy to Chelsea Hall students. You’ll deliver therapy and education programmes based on pupils’ individual needs, including the preparation, delivery, and evaluation of support programmes; and the delivery and assessment of pupil interventions in and outside of school. In collaboration with caregivers and teaching staff, you’ll provide speech and language targets for integration into the curriculum as part of each student’s IEP. You’ll also deliver regular assessments and progress reports, and participate in appraisals and clinical and management supervision as and when required. In addition to your responsibilities as a therapist, you’ll contribute to and support all aspects of school life, helping with safeguarding both on the school premises and during school outings and other activities.

Essential qualifications and experience:

  • HCPC Registered Speech and Language Therapist
  • Experience in paediatric SaLT
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the needs of children with SEN/SpLD, and experience in this environment and and commitment to safeguarding children
  • Knowledge of relevant risk management, health & safety, and child protection practices
  • To complete comprehensive assessments for each pupil on your caseload in order to determine their individual speech, language and communication needs
  • To plan, deliver and evaluate 1:1 and group evidence based therapy programmes to develop skills in receptive/expressive spoken language, attention and listening, social communication, AAC and other areas where appropriate
  • To manage (with support) a caseload of children with a range of speech, language and communication needs relating to ASD, global developmental delay, and other conditions.
  • To ensure good preparation for and participation in team meetings, and all parents meeting, including curriculum evening, IEP meeting, and annual reviews of EHCP meetings
  • To develop effective working relationships and strong communication skills with school staff in order to liaise and problem solve as well as to train staff in relevant therapeutic strategies tailored to the needs of the children.

Desirable experience:

  • Experience in a school-based setting
  • Experience implementing behavioural support strategies
  • Experience structuring clear care plans, based on best practice
  • Experience to identify strengths and development and training needs, relating to your own caseload
