Job overview

Great Oaks College is a specialist independent college in its fifth year of operation. We are co-located within Oaklands School, a new state of the art, purpose built premises located in Gresham Road, Hounslow, close to Osterley Tube Station.

The college provides further educational opportunities to students aged 19-24 with moderate, severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties or autism. We run three Pathways, Vocational, Life and Living and Engagement for Life.

We are looking to appoint a teacher in the vocational pathway to deliver our highly individualised programmes of education to our students.

Students within the Vocational Pathway, are working towards the development of skills needed to prepare them for paid employment. Students have access to specialist Vocational lessons on site including Horticulture, Catering and Facilities Management. Students also access external work placements in the community supported by an employability coach. We expect most students to work towards becoming independent travellers.

We would love to hear from teachers with an experience in special education, who have the desire and motivation to make a difference in our students’ lives. It would be desirable to have some experience or a keen interest in the field of catering or food preparation. We believe that all of our students are capable of making outstanding progress and we want to appoint individuals who share our beliefs.

We offer a comprehensive induction and inset programme for our staff, access to the teachers pension scheme and an employee assistance programme. Our College offers a friendly place to work with a supportive Senior Leadership Team.

Great Oaks College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and anyone applying to work at the College is expected to share this commitment. This position is subject to a satisfactory fully enhanced DBS check including Adult Barring and references being received. All positions are subject to the satisfactory completion of a twenty-six working week probation period.
