Surbiton High School has an opening for a Design and Technology Teacher to join our dynamic and innovative DT department.


Start Date: September 2024 or January 2025

Tenure: Fixed-term contract until 31 August 2025, Full-Time (part-time may be considered for the right candidate)

Salary: Competitive – based on the Surbiton High School Pay Scale £1,000 starting bonus for a September 2024 start; £500 starting bonus for a January 2025 start


We aim to give every pupil an outlet to demonstrate their creative and problem-solving skills to design and make products and systems which improve peoples' lives. In the lower years our DT pupils have access to lessons in product design, textiles and graphics. Year 9 pupils are taught by specialists with recent focus being on jewellery design, architecture and textiles garment manufacture. Growing numbers of pupils are choosing to study Design and Technology for GCSE and A-Level. We follow the AQA Design and Technology syllabus for GCSE, with a focus on woods, papers and boards and textiles. A-Level students have the option of studying either Product Design or Design and Technology: Fashion and Textiles.

Surbiton High School has approximately 1600 pupils aged between 4 and 18. Our Preparatory Schools are divided into the Girls’ Preparatory School and Boys’ Preparatory School, and the Senior School is girls only from age 11 upwards.
