Job overview

Permanent | Required for September 2024

St Paul’s Way Trust School is seeking to appoint a talented Teacher of Geography. The school is an outstanding ‘through school’ with a record of accomplishment and innovation. Drawing extensively on academic research the school provides a unique curriculum experience. Our award-winning new building is situated in the heart of East London. Professor Brian Cox CBE is our Patron.

At SPW we provide an environment where you can deliver a transformational education. To do this we have crafted an approach to teaching and learning in which:

  • Staff use whole class feedback models instead of written marking combined with just two data drops a year
  • We run a centralised behaviour system
  • Teaching staff enjoy the highest proportion of timetabled planning and preparation time in the Borough.

Beyond this, collaboration underpins a staff development model in which every teacher benefits from fortnightly coaching, in addition to timetabled subject specific training during the school day.

We also appreciate that delivering excellence requires flexibility. We have adapted to include online parents evening meetings and having fortnightly PPA time from home where timetabling allows.

This is an exciting career opportunity for a colleague who is passionate about the entitlement of young people to an inspiring Geography education. Working within a vibrant and highly successful Humanities faculty, you will be an outstanding classroom teacher with a commitment to the progress of all students in our heavily oversubscribed school.

The successful candidate will have an unwavering belief in the potential of every student and support them in achieving their aspirations. (S)he will inspire curiosity and interest for the subject which motivates students. The successful candidate will teach Geography at all Key Stages.

Our exceptional links with QMUL, King’s College London, The University of Warwick, The UCL Institute of Education and the University of East London help shape an inspirational Humanities curriculum.

We have high expectations of all students to be taught the best powerful knowledge as defined by the subject community. We believe all teaching should be evidence informed so teachers can focus on high impact methods in their practice with sensible implications on workload. Planning of lessons are based on principles derived from cognitive science and distributed through the department to drive collaboration. The department delivers CPD fortnightly that focuses on improving our subject and pedagogical knowledge.

The culture of SPWT aims to support new and experienced teachers to thrive and continuously develop, within both their teaching and leadership.

If you would like to play your part in delivering outstanding provision, whilst receiving the very best support to develop your career, then we would very much like to hear from you. You are also very welcome to visit the school and we would recommend it.
