The Minster School is a highly regarded, oversubscribed school, serving the local community of Southwell and surrounding villages. The school currently has 1650 students on roll including 380 students in the sixth form and 40 students in the junior department. We are regularly amongst the top schools in Nottinghamshire for achievement and attainment.

Alongside serving our own students, we are the home of East Midlands East Maths Hub, a strategic partner of the Redhill Teaching Hub and a member of the Minster Learning Alliance. The Minster School is a member of the Minster Trust for Education (MITRE), a multi academy trust. 

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, ambitious, and creative teacher of languages to join our MFL faculty. You will have a specialism in Spanish, French or German, and ideally be able to teach a second language up to Key Stage 4. You will join a highly successful school, with an expectation to strive for excellence at every opportunity, commit to sharing practice with others. This is an exciting opportunity to join our large Languages faculty:

  • The team consists of 8 members of staff, including a number of native level French and Spanish specialists
  • The team are situated in a dedicated teaching corridor in the centre of the school, including a languages computer lab
  • We run many residential visits, including recent visits to France, Spain and Germany
  • We offer a number of languages enrichments including clubs, links with European partner schools and an off-timetable ‘Languages Day’ for Key Stage 3.

 

The successful candidate will:

  • be an excellent classroom teacher able to teach throughout the age and ability range (Key Stage 3, 4 and 5)
  • be passionate about languages and be able to inspire a similar enthusiasm in our students
  • be committed to raising the attainment of all students, particularly those who are disadvantaged
  • demonstrate excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • be committed to supporting and contributing to our school ethos of Succeeding Together and the values of Wisdom, Optimism, Resilience, Kindness and Service

The Minster School is a highly successful secondary school, serving the local community of Southwell and surrounding villages. The school currently has 1600 students on role including 350 students in the sixth form and 40 students in the Junior School. We are oversubscribed and are regularly in the top schools in Nottinghamshire for attainment and progress.

Alongside serving our own students, we are a national support school, the home  school of East Midlands East Maths Hub and lead a Learning Alliance providing Initial Teacher Training, Professional Learning and School Improvement support. The Minster School is also the foundation school in the Minster Trust for Education (MITRE).

The school can trace its origins to 956AD where it provided the education to the choristers of Southwell Minster. Whilst still maintaining its heritage and history the school is now a vibrant and forward-looking academy housed in a state-of-the-art building built in 2007. We are passionate about learning and developing new ways to engage, challenge and support students in their studies.

As a school we believe strongly that students should have a broad and immersive experience throughout their school life. As a result, enrichment remains a key part of our provision. Whether it be our highly anticipated musical productions, sporting success or our wide variety of extra-curricular visits, we believe that learning should flourish beyond the classroom.
