Job overview

Please note - Hayesbrook Academy will be known as Leigh Academy Tonbridge as of September 2023

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Teacher of PE to join our collaborative department. Leigh Academy Tonbridge will formally open its doors to its first co-ed cohort in September 2023. The academy has been on a journey of transformational change since joining Leigh Academies Trust in September 2021, with Ofsted describing students’ behaviour and attitudes as ‘exceptional’ in the graded inspection of December 2022.

As we welcome our first female students into the academy, we would like to recruit a female member of staff to join our successful PE department. Sport is a huge part of the culture at our academy and the successful candidate will be instrumental in establishing a broad formal and extra-curricular offering for our female students. Please note that the ability to teach a second subject such as maths, science or geography at KS3 would be an advantage.

We can offer the opportunity to join a school that offers significant support for staff internally, and also benefit from support from the wider Trust on the new curriculum and raising standards. Whatever the stage of your career, you will receive outstanding professional development and work in a community of dedicated and happy colleagues.

At Leigh Academy Tonbridge you can expect;

  • Impeccable student behaviour in classrooms and around the academy
  • High levels of focus in students.
  • A supportive academy with visible leadership that support teachers to develop.
  • Students who are committed to their learning and want to do their very best.
  • Students who work well together and show the highest level of respect towards each other and towards members of staff
  • The opportunity to be part of a team that highly values your wellbeing.

What we are offering:

  • Opportunities to teach Key Stages 3,4 and 5.
  • Professional coaching and support.
  • A bespoke CPD programme.
  • A thriving social and community ethos.

We’d like to hear from you if you are:

  • Collaborative, building strong professional relationships.
  • Able to motivate and inspire students to achieve their full potential
  • Energetic with a ‘can do’ attitude.

This is a permanent role offering Main Pay Scale, commensurate with experience. The successful candidate will join us from September 2023.

About Leigh Academy Tonbridge

Core values of integrity, courage and imagination underpin all that we do. We are unrelenting in our mission to teach those that we have the privilege to care for to do the right thing, to make courageous choices and to ignite their curiosity and imagination. Our students will leave the academy with the qualifications and skills to access the very best universities, apprenticeships and careers to which they aspire.

Leigh Academy Tonbridge is an inspirational community, with high-standards of discipline creating disruption free classrooms and a broad, innovative digital curriculum, underpinned by the principles of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme. Our curriculum is knowledge rich, promotes diversity of thought and creates a framework within which students explore, understand and appreciate the power and application of knowledge in real global contexts. Through the implementation of our curriculum students mature into reflective and resilient learners who can work both independently and collaboratively to overcome challenges, are confident critical thinkers and master lifelong learning. We provide all of our students with a Chromebook to develop their digital skills and to enrich their learning in their classrooms and to support their independent study.

Our students flourish, becoming curious, caring and culturally astute young people as they move on to higher education or employment. They leave with a broad skill set and the versatility to embrace the future challenges of the modern world.
