Job overview
International School Michel Lucius seeks a qualified teacher of Physics to contribute to our dynamic and rapidly growing secondary school from September 2018 onwards.
The School
International School Michel Lucius is a state-funded secondary school, located in the heart of Luxembourg’s capital. Lycée Michel Lucius has been providing a high quality education to secondary-school aged students for fifty years. In response to Luxembourg’s fast evolving, highly cosmopolitan and international population, Lycée Michel Lucius created an English language international stream in 2011 which has since grown into a diverse and high quality International School that serves over 400 secondary school students, representing more than 70 nationalities. In September 2017, the International School Michel Lucius Primary section was set up to provide an internationally recognised primary education to a growing population of over 260 pupils.
An international English-medium curriculum is taught throughout the International School, leading to (I)GCSE qualifications and culminating in GCE A Levels.
The Role
In response to a rapidly growing international student population, International School Lycée Michel Lucius is continuing to expand and seeks to appoint a qualified and dynamic teacher of Physics.
We are looking for a well-qualified practitioner with experience of the English curriculum. The successful candidate will be expected to prepare students for (I)GCSE and GCE A Level qualifications in a supportive, well-equipped and excellently resourced school environment. The ability to inspire students and to guide them to become inquisitive and successful scholars is essential.
Teachers at the International School Michel Lucius have excellent subject knowledge and are expected to work collaboratively, to reflect upon their own practice and to contribute to the ethos and vision of the school. In addition to key teaching responsibilities, staff have a pastoral role, giving them the opportunity to foster students’ holistic development and to play an integral part in the school community.
As a dynamic and innovative school we pride ourselves on acting in the interest of our students and supporting our teachers in the pursuit of their professional goals.
All teaching within the international school is undertaken in English. However, the successful candidate must have certified evidence of CEFR B2-level competence in one of Luxembourg’s administrative languages (i.e., French, German or Luxembourgish). Evidence of a B2 level must be provided when signing the contract. In addition, applicants must have a minimum of 5 years teaching experience and a valid teaching qualification from a member state of the EU or EEA.
What we offer
The International School Michel Lucius offers motivated teachers a supportive and innovative teaching environment, allowing them to follow their passion for education. The school actively encourages and supports teachers’ continued professional development initiatives.
Teachers have a balanced timetable, providing them with ample time for preparation and administrative duties alongside teaching their allocated lessons.
As government employees, teachers benefit from a generous salary, including extensive health, pension, unemployment and disability insurance.
How to apply
All applicants should complete the online application form, including a supportive statement and the names and contact details of two professional referees. One of these should be your current employer.
All applicants must have a valid teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE), five years of experience, and be able to provide certified evidence of a CEFR B2 level in one of the administrative languages (i.e., French, German or Luxembourgish).
