Job overview

Required to start 1st of September 2024 to July 2025, 37 hours per week term time plus 10 days, worked in accordance with service requirements.

We are seeking to appoint a self-motivated, enthusiastic and reliable Technician to work alongside our Food Technology Teacher. The post-holder will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of lessons through practical, administrative and classroom support.

This crucial and very popular element of our curriculum enables pupils to learn about healthy eating and practical food preparation. We are seeking to appoint a friendly and capable Food Technician to support classroom teachers by preparing, organising and maintaining the equipment and the learning environment, managing the ordering and receipt of ingredients and materials and assisting pupils during practical activities.

The successful applicant will be required to demonstrate high professional and personal standards at all times and have a willingness to learn new skills and to undertake further professional development.

You must have excellent organisational and time management skills; be able to work independently using your own initiative as well as part of a team. Effective communication skills and an awareness of Health and Safety issues are essential.

Experience of working within a school either on a paid or voluntary basis is desirable.

Located in Prestwich, Greater Manchester, Parrenthorn High School is a co-educational secondary school established in 1974. In response to local demand the school buildings have recently been extended and adapted to accommodate an increased intake and has approximately 976 pupils aged 11-16 on roll.
