Job overview
Based at Broomfield Hall with access to over 200 acres of grounds, you will perform the role of trainer/assessor for apprenticeship delivery in Horticulture or in Arboriculture, undertaking assessments and delivering national framework and standards at Level 2 and Level 3 within a variety of settings, both onsite at Broomfield Hall and with local employers.
You will be a highly motivated individual, able to work independently to ensure high achievement rates of qualifications with monthly targets met.
Role Responsibilities:
- To carry out recruitment activities, including information/advice/guidance (IAG), enrolment, induction, initial assessment (to include skills scans, basic skills, initial assessment, health and safety pre-vet checks and diagnostic testing for key skills when required) and individual learning plans (ILP) in negotiation with learners (groups/1-1)
- Identify potential learners and progression opportunities
- To perform the role of assessor and undertake work-based assessments in accordance with awarding body guidelines and occupational assessment strategy and comply with quality standards and procedures and relevant funding organisation guidance
- Take responsibility for ensuring that you have a supply of learning resources and associated documentation
Essential Skills
- A1 awards (or TDLB units D32 and D33) within 6 months of start date
- Vocational qualification at Level 3 or above
- Full driving licence and transport
- Level 2 English
- Level 2 Maths

Derby College is a large general further education college with four sites in or near the city of Derby. It supports around 26,000 learners, who choose from more than 1,000 full-time and part-time apprenticeship, A-level, BTEC and NVQ courses.
Derby College was established as a single institution in 2002 by merging three further education colleges: Mackworth Tertiary College, Wilmorton Tertiary College and Broomfield Agricultural College. A merger between South East Derbyshire College and Derby College was approved in 2010. Heavy investment has been made by the college in its teaching and learning facilities, from the fully equipped teaching kitchens at the Roundhouse campus to the high-tech science labs at the Joseph Wright Centre and the Equestrian Centre at the Broomfield Hall campus.
