University Advisor for IBDP Boarding school (Japan)

NUCB International College is an international boarding high school opened in Sep. 2022, accredited as an IBDP school by the International Baccalaureate Organization in Dec.2022, run by Kurimoto Educational Institute (KEI).(Y10-12) NUCB International College is a world-class, co-educational boarding high school that nurtures the next generation of leaders. The school accepts a wide range of students from Japan and abroad and implements leadership education from an early age in a highly diverse environment. NIC is the only boarding school in central Japan accredited by the Ministry and Education, Culture, Sports, Science & Technology (MEXT) to offer two qualifications: the Japanese high school diploma and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP). All subjects apart from language classes are taught in English, and all our students have the opportunity to be awarded the Bilingual IBDP Diploma. We seek for a University Advisor to assist our students in their endeavor in reaching out to universities world wide.

-Job title: University Advisor

-Purpose: to provide comprehensive university and careers advice and support to students (Y10 to 12) and their parents. 

-Specific Responsibilities

● Assist/advise students with their university applications

● Provide guidance and assistance to students in their preparation of personal statements, personal essays and application forms

● Support in keeping up with the newest internet material, advertise current information to

students and parents and keep up to date with changes in university admissions

● Giving presentations to parents at appropriate timings

● Consult and collaborate with faculty and staff, concerning university

advice and applications and offer support to staff and students

● Develop a keen understanding of world-class universities and their target student demographic

● Reach out to researching universities worldwide, country-specific and individual university application procedures

● Actively seek financial aid and scholarship opportunities worldwide and facilitate student

research for scholarships. Coordinate scholarship nominations and applications. 

Requirements

● Relevant Bachelor's degree(teaching qualification and/or Masters degree: preferred)

● Minimum three years’ experience in either University Advisor, University Admissions Counsellor or other relevant field

● Experience with and an understanding of the IBDP program

● Previous experience working with students for whom English is not their first language preferred

Selection Process
