The Music in Secondary Schools Trust (MiSST) is a charity that provides a classical musical instrument and tuition to young people in schools that serve areas of disadvantage. Through the programme, students develop self-confidence and discipline, as well as have opportunities to play and perform.

The Music in Secondary Schools Trust was launched in April 2013 by Founder and current CEO Truda White. With 11 partner schools and 3,750 students on the programme currently in London, the MiSST has reached almost 5,000 teenagers, providing classical instruments and 3 years of group tuition. The charity also runs a Saturday Music School, an annual concert and a music residential. The charity benefits from secure funding from its sponsors, and the support of their Patron, Nicola Benedetti. MiSST's aim to be at the forefront of classical music education in secondary schools with a challenging and disadvantaged intake and to provide a programme of excellence that is unrivalled in the UK.

With Truda stepping back from the CEO role, the Trustees are looking to appoint a strong, innovative leader who is passionate about the power of music within education to be transformative for individuals and communities. The successful candidate will have:

  • A demonstrable passion for changing children and young people’s lives
  • Experience of being a successful senior leader in a secondary school and/or charity
  • Experience of working with high level, senior board, such as Governors or Trustees
