Job overview

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the purpose of this role is to assist each Principal/Headteacher in their duty to ensure that the school meets its educational aims. This is achieved through oversight of certain site operations; oversight of the management of support staff; provision of regular financial information and support to the Headteacher/ Principal; and reporting on operational and financial performance to Local Governing Bodies.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Operated at a similar management level within an organisation which has parallels with BET, possibly an educational or related organisation with operations across different sites/campuses
  • An understanding of finance in Education and able to present and discuss this appropriately depending on the audience
  • Previously successfully led cross-functional teams
  • Extensive knowledge of effective Premises management and Health and Safety regulations relating to the Estates function
  • Proven success in driving continuous improvement in areas such as customer service or operational processes
  • An understanding of relevant legislation and regulatory requirements underpinning the education and academies sector
  • An ability to engage and influence at all levels
  • Strong planning and project management skills
  • The ability to handle and quickly adapt to changing priorities, switching between more strategic activities and “hands-on” responsibilities as the situation demands
