Ark Putney Academy opened in September 2012 as part of the Ark network in the London Borough of Wandsworth. We’re a mixed school with 950 students, ranging from year 7 through to sixth form. In our 2017 OFSTED inspection we were rated ‘Good’ in every category.

Our professional development offering is tailor based on the needs of the teacher and department to ensure everyone achieves their full potential. We also take the wellbeing of our staff seriously as we recognise that teaching can be a challenging profession. Therefore, staff receive regular rewards and recognition for effort.

We’re now looking to appoint an Art Teacher with the ability to teach KS3 DT from 1 January 2023. This role supports the teaching in our Creative Making Department to ensure the academy achieves its targets through appropriate Schemes of Work, assessment tracking and intervention.

You will:

·        Plan, resource and deliver lessons to the highest standard to inspire students to appreciate the subject

·        Be able to motivate and challenge learners of all abilities

·        Have the resolve and enthusiasm to make a real difference to the lives of students

·        Be committed to Ark Putney’s ethos of high expectations

If you share our commitment to excellence, we want to hear from you!

Interviews will take place on a rolling basis so early application is advised.

The academy reserves the right to close this advertisement early if we receive a high volume of suitable applicants.

Values and vision

At Ark Putney we have a holistic view of educating young people. Our mission statement is;

Preparing every student to be a pillar of any community

By this we mean that we are focusing on developing students to be the very best they can be in all aspects of their lives  not only through academic progress but also by developing the soft skills that will enable students to be successful in the world such as good manners and the ability to speak confidently combined with the desire to participate through sport, the arts and contributing to charity and community projects.

This can be illustrated by our core purpose, which is to provide students with:

  • An appreciation and curiosity for life and learning
  • The courage and ambition  to unlock and fulfil their potential
  • A desire to contribute to society in a positive way
  • A sense of self –awareness, combined with the integrity  to be compassionate towards others

The main drivers for this are our Six Pillars as listed below. These permeate academy life and can be seen in everything that we do, think and say at APA. They are also a focus of our assemblies, reflections and tutorial activities. They help to guide us in how we behave, what we do and what kind of people we want to be:

  • Effort
  • Team work
  • Community
  • Enthusiasm
  • Commitment
  • Independence

In March 2017, Ofsted rated the academy as good in every category and highlighted our students’ progress and achievement at GCSE and in sixth form. The full report can be read here.
