Are you a passionate, hardworking and focused leader who understands how to build a culture and ethos that promotes effective collaboration, excellence, equality and high expectations of all pupils and staff? Do you believe that you can secure outstanding outcomes for all students in a safe, vibrant, and happy school? Are you an outstanding classroom teacher? Then we’d love to hear from you.

What will you get in return?

This is a fantastic opportunity to work as part of the senior leadership team under the direction and with the support of the Head of School and Executive Headteacher at Honley High School.

You will also benefit from fantastic support from the central Trust team, the school improvement team and your fellow leaders of the other schools in the trust. With expertise on hand to support you in areas such as curriculum development, you’re free to do what you do best: drive up and promote excellent safeguarding, inclusion, behaviour and attendance at this wonderful school. At Honley you’ll find a strong foundation where you can make a real difference to the lives of over 1300 children and young people and our local community.

What the role involves in a nutshell:

  • Support the Head of School and governing body to promote the school’s values and develop the school’s vision
  • Lead and have direct responsibility in an area of focus which will be agreed with the Head of School following appointment
  • Establish and review policies through the aims and objectives of the School Evaluation and Improvement Plan
  • Deliver a vision for educational provision that allows all students to build knowledge and skills for future learning and employment
  • Assist the Head of School and governing body to build a culture and ethos that promotes effective collaboration, excellence, equality and high expectations of all pupils and staff
  • Provide an outstanding education for every student in school
  • Assist with strategies that promote staff wellness and manage workload

If our school sounds like a place in which you could really make a difference, then we’d love to hear from you.

Vision and Values

Central to everything we are working to achieve is the school vision. We are striving to create an exceptional school where all members of the school community:

  • Are proud of the school, respectful of each other, socially responsible, and believe in and promote our values
  • Work within an atmosphere of mutual support, respect and collaboration
  • Are committed to individual and collective success and place no ceiling on aspiration
  • Celebrate effort as well as achievement, take risks and learn from mistakes, recognising the intrinsic value of learning
  • Place the needs of the child at the centre of learning, nurture their creativity in overcoming the challenges of today and develop their resilience to address the uncertainties of tomorrow

The exceptional school that we will create will be founded upon the following beliefs:

  • We believe in fairness, equity and inclusion: we value every child for who they are and show compassion and understanding in our dealings with one another
  • We strive for excellence in everything we do: we have high aspirations for everyone and believe that children and adults thrive in a climate of praise, celebration and recognition. We always measure ourselves against the highest standards
  • We believe in working together to protect the interests and well-being of all members of our community

We value working in partnership with others and in September 2019 we joined with four other schools in Kirklees and Calderdale to form the Together Learning Trust. This multi-academy trust, which replaces our previous Co-operative Trust status, has been founded on the principles of Integrity, Creativity and Excellence. Our expectation is that by working together as a family of schools we will be able to provide even greater opportunities for our learners and greater access to professional development for our staff.  We are pleased that many of our previous Co-operative Trust partners agreed to transfer across to support this new venture and are continuing to work with us to develop our children into well-rounded and socially responsible young adults.

Ofsted report

“The systems to check the performance of teachers are thorough and clearly identify the skills that teachers need to strengthen. The school’s substantial programme for teachers’ professional development has assisted well in ensuring teaching is good. Support and training for subject leaders have helped them to contribute strongly to improving teaching and pupils’ outcomes.”
