We are seeking to appoint a highly inspired and motivated Assistant Senco who is passionate about meeting the needs of our pupils so they can achieve their full potential.

The assistant SENCO will need to have excellent communication skills. They will work closely with our SENCO, supporting and liaising with staff, parents and external agencies to ensure identified pupil’s needs are met. 

The successful candidate will help to support the learning support team and help to ensure high quality in-class support. The position will require vision, expertise and commitment in the area of SEN. The assistant SENCO will ideally have experience in multi-agency working and have a strong awareness of the relevant SEN legislation that underpins SEN within schools.

The successful candidate will:

- Hold both English and Maths GCSE at C grade or higher. 

- Show commitment to the inclusion of all pupils. 

- Bring enthusiasm, flexibility and an openness to new approaches.

- Have experience of teaching / supporting pupils with SEND in a mainstream setting. 

- Have Knowledge of current practice and developments for pupils with SEND. 

This is a brand new role and an exciting opportunity to be involved in a rapidly improving and over subscribed school.

Golborne High School, a co-educational secondary school of around 1,200 pupils, is located near to Wigan, Greater Manchester. Providing places for pupils aged 11-16, Golborne High is a foundation cooperative trust school, forming a key part of the GoalCo Trust, a network of schools and colleges situated in and around Wigan.

The GoalCo cooperative was established in 2010, but the secondary school itself first opened its doors in 1954.
