Job overview

St Wilfrid's Catholic School is looking to appoint a highly organised attendance officer who displays excellent communication and administration skills. The role of the Attendance Officer will have responsibility for all aspects of attendance including the monitoring, recording and reporting of absence of all students from years 7 to 13. The role requires working at pace and the ability to prioritise and work well under pressure.

Are you proactive and able to work independently as well as part of a team? We are looking for candidates who have excellent interpersonal and communication skills along with strong administration skills as the role consists of a variety of tasks related to the monitoring of attendance and punctuality using our computerised systems. You will need to be confident and effective at analysing data, updating our systems, and collating reports.

This role is part-time, term time only plus INSET days. The 30 hours are to be worked over 5 working days, Monday to Friday from 08:30 to 14:30hrs. These hours could be flexible for the right candidate.

Do you want to work in a supportive and dynamic environment where staff feel valued? Please click on the following link or copy to your browser to get a flavour of St Wilfrid’s https://youtu.be/I5REzWqgTe0. As you will see from the link, we have great facilities, great staff and above all, great students! Please have a look at our website for more information and if you are interested then please contact the school to arrange a visit at recruitment@stwilfrids.com.

This is a school that wants to be the very best it can be. Do you want to be part of that? You do not need to have worked in a school before but a genuine interest in having an impact on the lives of young people and a willingness to learn is expected.

The strength of community at St Wilfrid’s is a strong one based upon mutual respect. The staff work incredibly hard and are prepared to go the extra mile for the students in their charge. Our students are amazing and they contribute enormously to making the school such a welcoming and productive place. Our most recent Section 48 Diocesan Report (October 2017) and our Ofsted Report (March 2023) certainly reinforce this aspect of school life.

St Wilfrid's Catholic School reserves the right to review applications, interview and appoint before the close date so please make sure your applications are sent as soon as possible.

St Wilfrid’s is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Any successful applicant will be required to undertake a Disclosure check by the Criminal Records Bureau at an Enhanced level.

St Wilfrid’s has an extremely strong reputation in the community and as such, we are heavily oversubscribed with waiting lists in all year groups. We are a 6-form entry Catholic School but we increased in size to 7 forms of entry in September 2023 for Year 7 as a bulge class to help West Sussex with the demand for places. Our VI Form is incredibly popular and continues to grow in size. This is a great measure of our success.

The students love their school and staff love working here. In our most recent Section 48 inspection, where we were rated “Outstanding”, the inspectors commented, “in every interview the word “community” was one of the defining characteristics of St Wilfrid’s”.  In December 2021 a Diocesan monitoring visit reinforced these high standards, the report can be found here.

Students at St Wilfrid’s make “above average” progress overall and our reputation for this is countywide. We are determined to do even better.

If you are someone who wishes to work in a community which is inclusive and where every member is treated with dignity and respect then St Wilfrid’s is the place for you.
