About the Position

Contract: Part Time, Permanent

Start Date: January 2023

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Delivering KS3 Science, GCSE and A level Biology.
  • Implementing and delivering an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant, differentiated curriculum for students, and support a designated curriculum area as appropriate for KS3 to Sixth Form.
  • Facilitating and encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential
  • Contributing to raising standards of student attainment
  • Setting high expectations for pupils' behaviour, establishing and maintaining a good standard of discipline.
  • Ensuring that the current requirements of examination boards are met.
  • Contributing to the extra-curricular timetable and duties of the Senior Department as directed by SMT.
  • Part of this role will involve safeguarding responsibilities including the reporting of any safeguarding concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Team

About you

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A specialism in the Biology with the ability to teach KS3 Science, GCSE and A level Biology.
  • A passion for education and an awareness of wider educational issues.
  • Experience being and excellent classroom practitioner who can lead by example.
  • Excellent organisation skills with the proven ability to see things through to completion.
  • Excellent communication and critical reflective skills, understanding the importance of listening.
  • Collaborative working practices developed and demonstrable, with the ability to manage change and work under the pressure of changing circumstances.
  • An approachable and supportive disposition, so that pupils are confident that their concerns will be heard and will receive sympathetic treatment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to sustain effective relationships on behalf of the School, both internally and externally.

Trinity School is an independent, co-educational, all-through school for children aged 3-19 years old. It is situated in Teignmouth, Devon, and has approximately 490 day and boarding pupils. Bursaries and scholarships are available.

Trinity School was founded in 1979. It is a Christian school built on joint Anglican and Roman Catholic foundations. Pupils of all faiths and none are welcome in the school, which follows a Christian ethos in all aspects of school life.

"The school provides a welcoming environment where pupils of all ages and abilities feel valued and encouraged to learn. Informed by the school’s ecumenical traditions, its ethos creates a community where pupil are welcomed as individuals with unique abilities and talents and are enabled to make good progress overall. The curriculum is good, enabling pupils to develop their basic skills in literacy, numeracy, scientific exploration and the creative arts as they progress from the EYFS to the sixth form. Pupils are confident and articulate, use information and communication technology (ICT) completely, work independently and cooperatively, and make good progress according to their ability. Lessons are well prepared and teachers use their subject knowledge well to encourage and support their pupils.”
