Job overview

Are you an outstanding classroom practitioner looking for an exciting role in a special school?

We are seeking to appoint a Class Teacher to join us who is committed to providing a welcoming, stimulating learning experience for all students. What we are really looking for is someone who is passionate about working with students with special educational needs and someone who is willing to contribute to the broader Academy life.

To be successful, you will need to be:

  • Familiar with delivering a thematic curriculum
  • Familiar with differentiating for a range of learning needs
  • Creative, enthusiastic and dedicated to ensuring that students’ individual needs are met
  • Able to provide students with a positive learning journey and help them to achieve their aspirations

Experience of working with young people with autism would also be advantageous.

This role is suitable for both experienced professionals who wish to progress their careers and NQTs who want to begin their careers in a learning-rich environment, both from mainstream and SEND settings.

About us

Our purpose-built building opened in January 2018 and currently provides 117 places for students aged 3–18 with a diagnosis of autism and/or severe learning difficulties.

We can offer you:

  • An exciting opportunity to work in a unique and growing environment with students with a range of complex needs
  • A supportive and welcoming team with a wide range of experience
  • A new building designed to meet the needs of our students and large outdoor spaces
  • Career development opportunities as the Academy continues to grow and develop and an ongoing programme of continuous professional development activities through the local Teaching School Alliance and Greenwood Academies Trust Learning Alliance, including a Trust NQT programme
  • Dedicated planning, preparation and assessment time

In return

Being part of the Greenwood Academies Trust (GAT), you can be assured that you will be joining a successful Multi-Academy Trust that has a great track record in helping children to succeed, no matter what their background. The Trust is dedicated to valuing and developing the workforce, whether that be through ensuring a fair workload or offering access to bespoke CPD from the Learning Alliance to enhance professional growth.

We believe in looking after the people who make a huge difference to our children, their families and the communities we serve. That’s why we give everyone who joins a Perkbox account – with 24/7 access to perks and discounts, plus curated wellbeing tools to look after your physical and mental health. It’s part of our commitment to look after you.

Here’s what you can look forward to:

  • Hundreds of global and local perks, available online 24/7
  • Shopping discounts from the biggest brands, all year round
  • Saving money on everything from the supermarket shop to summer holidays
  • A free Employee Assistance Programme from Health Assured
