Job overview

Carrington school has undergone a great deal of change since I arrived in 2018. Some of these changes have been as a result of our own analysis and reflections on what we needed to do better, some have come about through the amazing new building project, and others have evolved as we have addressed our vision, ethos and purpose as educators of your children.

This post is an exciting opportunity for someone with leadership experience to join a vibrant team of leaders who have been part of this improvement journey over the past few years bringing the school to a stable and secure position and securing an Ofsted Good in May 2023. We are looking for a dynamic, resilient and inspirational leader who can demonstrate their ability to lead and make an impact on outcomes and opportunities for young people. This role will be fast paced and requires a leader who works well under pressure, can model and lead by example, can think on their feet and adapt to an ever-changing environment. They should be an exceptional teacher, striving for headship, with a passion for a subject area and driven to increase life long opportunities and experiences for the young people we are privileged to work with.

As a school our aim is for students and staff to ASPIRE; to want to be the best they can be, to seize opportunities, be prepared to take risks and not be frightened of failure. We want them to INNOVATE; to think outside the box, be creative and curious, to be proud of who they are and to be able to work both collaboratively and independently.

We want them to show RESPECT; to be thoughtful and kind citizens who support each other, members of our school and local community.

Full responsibilities will be discussed at interview to ensure we appoint the right person for the job and to compliment the Senior Leaders already working within the school.

Values and vision

Carrington School staff are a team of professionals who dedicate their lives to providing students with a high-quality education. Our core values are Aspire, Innovate and Respect and our aim across the coming year is to ensure that we all live and breathe these so they become embedded into our everyday lives and will support success for everyone. Our students want to learn, however under the new progress measures we were found to be in a position where not every child made expected progress. Over the past 24 months we have been addressing this in our practice across the school.
