Dr Pauline Stephen will move from her current post of Director of Education, Registration and Professional Learning in GTC Scotland on 12 March 2021 to take up her new post as Chief Executive and Registrar.

We are now seeking a skilled and experienced education professional to become our new Director of Education, Registration and Professional Learning.

This is a rare opportunity to join a national body in which you will influence the future direction of Scottish education at a challenging and exciting time.

As the world’s oldest professional body for teaching, GTC Scotland is undertaking a innovative change programme in how it delivers services. In the role of Director of Education, Registration and Professional Learning, we are looking for a motivated leader with a range of skills in education policy and people management who can enhance our work to support and grow the teaching profession.

The General Teaching Council for Scotland is the independent regulatory body for the teaching profession in Scotland. 

We were set up in 1965 under the Teaching Council Scotland Act following concerns that entry requirements had lowered after the Second World War and unqualified teachers were working in Scottish Schools.
